RUG VK-10

The rug VK-10 has recently been put into production by NORDICMODERN in close collaboration with the Klint family as part of NORDICMODERN’s collection of selected original Vibeke Klint rug designs.

VK-10 is one of the last designs Vibeke Klint made in her career in the early 00s.

The rug is available in 5 sizes: Runner 60×130 cm, Runner 80×240 cm, small rug 140×200 cm, medium size 170×240 cm and 200×300 cm.

All rugs are hand-woven in New Zealand wool and felted English wool in warp-repp technique combined with details in flat weave.

The rug is made in warp repp technique with “lightning” details in flat weave, a challenging combination as the two techniques work against each other.

The rug is available with black background and details in black, white and brown.

All rugs benefit from lying on an underlay. The smaller the rug, the more important it is that the rug has an underlay. It extends the lifetime of the rug and makes the rug more slip proof.

Material

All rugs by NORDICMODERN are made of 100% wool from New Zealand

Wool has a natural coating of fat which makes it dirt repellant.

Furthermore, as opposed to most other fibres, wool does not burn.

Thus, wool does not need to be treated with fire retardants in order to be used even at places with special fire requirements.

Maintenance

Easily maintained – high quality wool
Daily cleaning

Use the vacuum cleaner frequently when the rug is new. It is normal that the rug produces shed fluff for a period of time. Vacuum in the direction of the plie and never with the brush down.
Stains

Immediately dab the area with a white cotton cloth to prevent the stain from penetrating the fibres.

Carefully sprinkle a bit of water on the stain and dab again with a white cotton cloth.

If the stain does not disappear, the rug should be cleaned by a professional, for instance: Vaskeriet.dk

In order to avoid staining from the floor it is recommended to use an underlay.

Rugs in warp repp technique should always have an underlay.

The use of an underlay also assures that the rug lies even and prolongs the lifetime of the rug
Wear

It is a good idea to turn the rug around twice a year to avoid uneven wear and to place e.g. plastic or felt protection under the feet of heavy furniture standing on the rug.

Note that the colors may fade if the rug is exposed to strong sunlight for a longer period of time.
